So perhaps a desk treadmill is a little too ambitious for you (both in terms of price and it’s rumored to be a little weird), but there are still options to get a workout without leaving your desk.Enter Cubii from Fitness Cubed. (They’re a Chicago health and fitness company, so I have mad love for what they’re doing. Also, considering I’m sitting on my butt for eight hours each day, I definitely found this intriguing.) The Cubii is a desk elliptical that is designed to fit conveniently under your desk to allow you to get some moderate-intensity cardio while you’re working.
I had a chance to give it a try and I think I’m a fan! It’s not so hard that it would interrupt your productivity and it’s small enough that it could conveniently fit under your desk, which are both reported shortcomings of a treadmill desk. The hard thing for Fitness Cubed will be to stand out in a sea of other desk ellipticals (there are a ton of results when you Google this category). However, Cubii has cool features such Bluetooth connectivity and calorie tracking to set it apart – so I’m sure they’ll figure it out.
Honestly, I’m feeling like the office fitness equipment craze is more bark than bite so far. I’ve seen people with those giant balls that are supposed to help with postures, and chairs based on the same idea. But that’s about as far as it’s gone. I personally would be first in line for using something like the Cubii or a treadmill desk (and I guess nothing is stopping me from going out and getting my own). There, however, the little problem of looking slightly cray-cray while the rest of your coworkers are sitting idle.
