You don’t know how crazy it is to run a website until you actually try doing it. I mean, it’s super exciting at times to actually do the things that are in your head, but at some point it can turn into this massive project that you can’t even think about any more.
Well, that’s kind of what has gone down with me over the past few months.
Let me give an update.
My husband and I decided to make a cross-country move from Chicago to the Bay Area. When people ask why, I usually call it a “Lifestyle Change”, which is the best way to describe it. I wasn’t too thrilled about my day job, he was between projects, and the snow just kept happening every single year.
We’re also both from the Midwest and have been there for most of our lives, and felt like we wanted to really experience living in a different place.
So to Cali we moved. And it has seriously been the coolest thing so far! There’s still a lot to learn and experience, but I love the newness of it.
Hiking is becoming my thing!
So one thing that has been kind of out there as a great unknown is “What am I going to do with SweshFit???” Trust me, it’s a question that I’ve dreaded hearing from people, and I hated to even think about it. I’ll even admit that I was borderline terrified to log in to the website and my social media channels (I’m still avoiding Instagram). Don’t get me wrong – I still love SweshFit. I just didn’t know exactly what I want to do with it! It started as my solution to the whole “don’t talk about it be about it” conundrum, but I never had a really clear vision of exactly what I wanted it to be. In fact, I’m still not totally sure that I know now, but I do have a solution for now.
Throw some more awesome shi*t on here!!!
I still have a lot of thoughts and passion around fitness. I see a lot of info out there that I want to share and put into my own words. I also really do like a lot of the things that are on the site, so I don’t want to kill the momentum completely.
However, I have learned a few things through this process. For one, I don’t want to be the “face” of my business. I honestly haven’t enjoyed posting pics and videos of my workouts, and giving frequent updates on my personal fitness life. I don’t know – maybe it’s the shy part of me. I also can’t seem to make it fit seamlessly into my life at all (“Hey, before I finish this next rep, hold this camera and catch me in action. Isn’t this so natural?”). Some people are awesome at it. Me, not so much. I can’t even seem to take pictures when I go on vacation, so I think I’m done fighting it.
Another thing I’ve learned is that I do way better at consistency when I’m interested in what I’m writing. However, I got sucked into the idea of writing about what I think people want to read, and I think a lot of the things I’ve been writing have been just mediocre for all of us. So I say from now on, you guys read what I want to write about…sounds kinda selfish but I really believe it’s going to work out wonderfully.
I’ll also probably throw up some ads here and there. (Have you seen how expensive Cali is? I need some coins!) I think it may help keep me motivated if I get an actual monetary award for sharing this info. But verdict is out on that…I’m still feeling things out.
So there, you go. You may see less of me in picture and video form, but more of me in content.
Looking forward to the next chapter of SweshFit and can’t wait to talk soon. Drop a comment down here if you’re reading this! If I’m lucky, I still have a reader or two out there 🙂
