I’m Markita and I’m the girl behind the scenes of SweshFit. I live in San Jose, CA, originally from Detroit, and lived in a few places in between that. I have an awesome hubby and the most amazing family and friends, love reality TV, will never pass on travel to an awesome place, and tend to get overly-excited about a glass of wine.
I started SweshFit because my relationship with fitness leads to all types of thoughts, and I wanted to write about some of them. Like most of us, I constantly battle the dilemma of trying to manage a full time career, have some fun in life, and keep my health (and body) in check. With that battle, I go from the ambitious “I’m about to train for this hard-ass 10 mile race!” to “Screw a workout – I’m just gonna drink and sleep this month.”
The struggle is real.
I’ve changed my workouts a lot over the years…from group fitness classes, to lengthy cardio sessions, hard-core weight training sessions, to finger burpees on my phone while I just look at other people work out. When I first started this blog, I was exclusively into doing quick, HIIT workouts. Since then, I got pretty bored with hearing myself talk about that and went back to all the things that I like to do. It makes for much more authentic blog posts, and gets to the core of what I think matters most: Do what works for you. (Unless you’re feeling fat and out of shape…don’t do that anymore.)
So let’s do this thing together. Join my journey, my rants, my struggles, and all the fun 🙂
And if you’re wondering about the blog name, “SweshFit”, it was originally a self-created combination of the words “Sweat” and “Fresh”. Since I’m less into “Hardcore Fitness” and more into “Fitness…Or Maybe Not” I’m giving it new meaning: “Sweat” + “Smash” 🙂
